Here's my answer to the author's question: because we aren't going to play that same game again as we did in Somalia. Read the report, and see if you can come up with a different answer.
A lot of "Environmentalism" is just a front for ridding "Mother Gaia" of a few million human pests, excepting, of course, for the elites. Steven Milloy Points out the case of DDT, which has unsupportable claims to killing birds eggs or causing cancer, but a LOT of data about it's effectivenes against malaria-causing mosquitos, a known and proven killer.
The More PC Rediculousness Dept: Again, from California (where else?) this news article adds another needle to the haystack of Liberalism piling onto the back of the camel that is our republic. Look, how about NO games whatsoever? Some kids will never be as good as other kids, so the games damage their self esteem, no matter what game it is. All children are now required to mill about the play yard at recess without looking at or speaking with other children, so that no one's self esteem is marred and no child is injured in any manner.

I am a big Star Trek fan. But this takes the cake. Reminds me of the Saturday Night Live episode where William Shatner says: "Get a life!" in a convention skit.
Competition will get us progress in space, not cooperation. This is true. Rand Simberg has a kick in the pants for NASA.

Everybody is in it for something, as Walter Williams notes. But, with capitalists you know they are in it for the money. Just what are the Liberal Democrat politicians in it for? Or, for that matter, any and all politicians?
Is our country going to Hell in a handbasket? I'm not sure, but the school system sure seems to be, as this editorial summarizes.
A lot of complaining going on about Iraq and our war on terror. But remember, we don't see the whole picture, relying on sketchy news stories in Afghanistan and leaked "memos" from Washington. I can draw different conclusions from what I'm seeing and reading.
Don't think this sort of stuff is rare. It happens all the time. It's just that somebody caught Gov. Gray with his hand in the till, and he was stupid enough to reach for the cash when his state is undergoing a lot of scrutiny because of the energy crisis scandal he's put it through. An extremely bold move, to be sure.
Brown Shirts Dept: Have a read of this. Are parents (of which I am one) incapapble of determining for their own families what is appropriate and what is not? Apparently not, as the Democrats want to save us from ourselves, because we are too stupid to take care of ourselves, let alone raise our own children. Thanks, Mr. Baca, for pointing out to me just how much of an idiot I am. Where would I be without the California Liberal Democrats?

HOMETOWN NEWS DEPT: I guess Gov. Hodges just doesn't realize how much money comes into our state from the Savannah River Site. Basically, he wants to choke of the region's life-blood. Of course, he's a Democrat, which should explain a lot. If he's worried about Aiken becoming a target, too late: it's been a target since the '50's when the site was built. An easier target would be the Vogtl nuclear plant across the river in Georgia - SRS has too damn much security to make it an attractive target to terrorists, and it's too far through snake infested woods to the storage facilities from the closest roads to allow a terrorist team to escape detection.
Even more fun stuff about the UN. Yeah, this is an organization I trust to solve the world's problems, all right.
David Horowitz, a 1960's Liberal, editorializes about the state of America's Institutes of Higher Learning. His conclusions aren't shocking, though his numbers are alarming.
An article about the major news networks, and why one should trust the "news" in only a very limited fashion.
This is America, and the official language of America is American English. So, schools should teach in English, foremost. I'm sure nobody intends to eliminate the native languages of students, but the fact remains that to get along and succeed in the US, you MUST master English, and the earlier the better. Knowledge of languages other than English is certainly a valuable asset, but not a requirement.
It's nice to catch the operatives, but we also need to fry the bigger fish. We must put pressure on the Saudis to make arrests with the financiers of these terrorists, or this means nothing, and they know it.
The UN is just such a wonderful organization. Read this article and you'll see what I mean.
Back after a long absence. Not a happy trip- we went to visit my family, specifically my Stepmother who unfortunately died from cancer before we got there. I urge anyone who can to donate money to cancer research. We've beaten most other dreadfull diseases but this one.
